I loved "Yellow Zone." The story begins by plunging us into the nightmare of a coordinated terrorist attack. Imagine events of September 11 occurring simultaneously in capital cities all across the world. That's just what we get. The reactions of the hapless characters were grippingly believable.

Scott Ryan was a young backpacker seeking adventure in Europe. Jack Koppel was an elderly Aussie tourist who was set in his ways. They arrive home to find a devastated, unrecognisable Australia. These are just two of the lovable characters who end up being forced to live in the confinement of Yellow Zone under strict and sinister government control.

Although this book tackles a sober theme, the tone is optimistic and full of hope. There is always a subtle but powerful awareness of a divine hand looking after every person and directing their paths. The only story I can think of to compare it to is the "Left Behind" series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. I found "Yellow Zone" more engrossing than Left Behind and I'm looking forward to more.

Wow! What a book! I absolutely couldn't put it down. I was totally spell-bound until the very end. And when you do get to the end you are left with the feeling of wanting more.

Could this book's message be a precursor of what our future is really going to be like? Is 'Yellow Zone' so far fetched and unbelievable? I don't think so. You have to read it to see what I mean."

I'm the kind who puts a book down before finishing the first chapter unless it draws me in. "Yellow Zone" is definitely a book that held my interest. The opening chapter jumps right into the style in which the book is written, with the clever and witty yet easy to read format in which Janelle Dyer uses. Scott, one of the very amiable central characters in the story, is at the scene of a shocking terrorist attack in Italy. He survives, but soon learns that the attack on Rome wasn't an isolated one. Attacks take place all over the world, in the most populated locations. The struggle then begins for Scott when he returns to Australia to find out if his family survived.

The story continues to create a bold, unsuspected and thought-provoking notion, which makes for gripping reading. Janelle Dyer has achieved in making the most terrifying and surreal thought become a possibility. The charming characters she included in Yellow Zone add to the enjoyment of the read creating a feeling that I, myself was in the plot. This book was a surprisingly exciting read, riddled with intelligent humour, which resulted in me laughing out a number of times. I'm looking forward to Janelle's future publications.
